We spent a few days in Utah for my sister's wedding. I went out on a Wednesday in order to be there in time for her endowment. Zack didn't come until Saturday because he didn't want to miss work. Those were the first nights we have spent apart since we've been married.
Since most (all?) of the readers of my blog participated in or have already heard about most of these events, this post is mostly for my own sake as blogging has become my journal writing. Feel free to skim or skip this post as your preferences dictate.
The first few days in Utah were pretty boring and uneventful (with the exception of the temple, of course). Everyone else was still going on with their daily lives and such, so I spent a lot of time doing what I would do at home in Philly- sitting around alone. I did get in some fun times though, including lunch with my sis, Wii playing with her and her fiance, shopping with my mom, and I got my very first pedicure.
Finally, Saturday came and my husband came. We started out the day with family photos with my Dad's side of the family (Z didn't make it in time for those).
Then we spent the day with Z's family. We ate a most delicious lunch at Cheesecake Factory and then we went up to Park City to get some cooler air. We watched people practice ski jumping into swimming pools, we walked around Main Street, and we had a good ol' time.
Sunday was family reunion stuff. We ate, chatted, and just enjoyed each other's company. On Monday, we hit up the archery park. Isn't my husband a very cute looking archer?
In the evening, we went and watched Matthew's hockey game and we polished that up by checking out the fireworks at Taylorsville Dayzz (they were pretty good).
Tuesday was the wedding. We got ready and headed for the temple. Dad realized he didn't have his recommend. The new(ish) barcode system is great. They just looked him up and saw he had a current recommend and he could get in. While we were looking for dad's recommend outside the temple, I dropped Michelle's bottle of foundation that I was holding and it exploded all over the sidewalk, and then people proceeded to step in it and track it into the temple. Oopsies. The ceremony was lovely. It was, of course, followed by a bzillion pictures.
During that time, Z and dad and I hopped over to check out the Church's new library. It seems nice. After the pictures, there was a luncheon at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building which was yummy.
In the evening, we headed over to the reception center, Le Jardin, which is where Z and I had our reception almost 2 years ago. It was fun to see the place again and to get to spend the time on the other side of things.
Congratulations to Michelle and Zach. We hope their day was perfect.
So the next day we hopped our flights and found ourselves back in Philly by dinnertime. We love to see family but we are glad to be home.
Thanks to everyone who planned and executed said plans while we were visiting. Thanks mom and dad for sponsoring our trip. We'll be back soon.
