It was such a fun day. I am already sad it's over.
To celebrate the kids' birthdays, we had our much anticipated (at least at our house) Sharks and Mermaids party. I picked the theme months ago and Clara has been talking about it since I mentioned it to her.
I picked up some extra hours at work yesterday, and didn't get as much time part prepping as a result, so we ended up spending most of the morning getting ready. We kept it pretty simple with snack foods and inexpensive decor.
The centerpiece was this wonderful cake made by an extremely talented friend of mine, LaChelle. I actually haven't seen her in quite a few years (since my wedding), but thanks to the beauty of social media, I was well aware of her talent for creating beautiful cakes. The cake turned out even better than I imagined, and was really a hit.
Our kids got spoiled half to death with presents, and then we let our almost 1 year old (10 more days) dig into his smash cake. When Clara turned 1, she dipped her hands into the frosting on the cake then got super sad because she was messy. I don't think she ate any of it. Lincoln did not follow suit. He dug right in. In fact, he just trashed the cake. After a while, he figure out her could actually eat it also, instead of just obliterating it. He loved it.
Thanks to our families for coming and making our party special. Love you all!
