This month, the Philadelphia zoo is running a promotion called "pay the weather", where you pay a buck for every 10 degrees it is outside to get in. It was in the 40s on the day we went, so we paid $4 a piece. That's an awesome deal considering that it's like $18 per person (or thereabouts) normally. Anyway, this post is a little late considering that we did this like 2 weeks ago now, but we really had a great time.
There are a lot of indoors displays at the zoo, so we didn't freeze the entire time. There was practically no one there since we went in the middle of the day on a weekday and it's February, so it felt like we had the whole zoo to ourselves a lot of the time. Here's a couple of photo highlights.
The boy peacocks were out to get the ladies that day. The peacocks were just kinda roaming wherever they wanted around the zoo, and we ran into guys like this all over the place.
Lions are awesome. I bet they were cold though.
This chameleon was in one of the indoor displays. The eyes on these guys always crack me up.
This bear was just snoozing away right next to the window of the display.
A lot of the big animals (rhinos, hippos, giraffes, etc) were inside because of the cold but the elephants were out for a while. They were really putting on a show. They were spraying mud all over themselves and they even got right down on the ground and rolled in the mud. Too cute! Here's a short video.

what an awesome idea! heck, if I went last night it would have been like $1.60.
Just a buck actually. $1 for anything in the teens, $2 for anything in the 20s, etc
