Once again...

we are apartment hunting. If we move, it'll be our 4th apartment in 2 and a half years of marriage. What can I say? I just want it all.

This has been a particularly difficult apartment hunt for a couple of reasons. First, our lease ends at the end of February, so we are looking for something available in March. That's kind of a random time of year so lots of companies have only a few things or nothing available. Second, Zack and I are working opposite schedules, which makes it really hard to coordinate with each other and landlords to see things. We have cancelled several appointments and been cancelled on a couple of times. Zack often has to miss some work to go see things. Still we are excited and have high hopes.
Our wishlist: dishwasher (if you've been reading this blog for any length of time at all, you know how I feel about this one. Being picky about this really narrows the apartment field), laundry on site (in the unit would be awesome, but we can all dream, right?), parking that's not too terrible, we want 1-2 bedrooms, excellent closet space, and we'd really like radiator heat. In fact, that is probably the primary reason we have decided to move. This apartment is FREEZING, and costs a lot to keep warm. We miss our radiators from the last apartment we lived in.
So far, we have seen some good stuff, but nothing quite fits the ticket. We saw a beautiful 2 bedroom with a dishwasher on an adorable street, but the rent was hefty and there was no laundry on site. We saw an amazing 2 bedroom with all new fixtures, new laminate floors, a new kitchen, a bay window, and a balcony, but it was on the wrong side of the street to still be in our ward (right on the boundary), it would've been a PAIN to move in and out since it was on the 3rd floor of a building with narrow and windy staircases, no radiators, it was at the top of our price range, and parking in the area would really suck. We also saw a cute one just down the street that was really good space and had a really, really nice price, but it didn't have a dishwasher or laundry on site. We have more appointments set up for this week (hopefully we can keep them all) and we have high hopes for some of the things we are going to see. Meanwhile, we are not taking staying right where we are off the table. This is a pretty good apartment. I just hate the cold so I'm feeling pretty miserable about it right now.
Wish us luck in finding something. I'll keep you updated.

Good luck. Having a warm place to come home to in when it is old outside seems critical! So hope you find something just perfect.

Hey you guys should check out Korman over here by us. Dishwashers and washer & dryers in the units. I know the price is a bit much but they are cheaper than some in the city. The train is only 10 minutes away and they let you buy a citytrans pass for a discounted rate with Drexel. Anyways good luck.

Oh how you guys should've snatched up our old apartment. Dishwasher, laundry in the unit, 2 bedrooms, lots of space, comes with a gated parking spot, awesome price, yada yada, you've seen it. :) If you're interested, there's a chance our (wonderful) old landlady may have something else available. Let me know if you want her info.

Well Mary Ann and Preethi, we've pretty much decided we're stuck on our ward at this point, so no cigar. Jennifer, we actually checked out Korman on our last apartment search. We really like it, and the price is actually okay (that's just kinda what it costs if you want all the amenities we want), but we really like being right in the middle of things in the city. That was a little too far away for us.
